Charitable Contribution History

Among its goals, LACRA has a responsibility to the community at large through volunteer and charitable work, and has involved the real estate community and associated industries in annual sports tournaments and fundraisers.

It is this goal that has guided LACRA's sponsorship of the Los Angeles Broker Challenge for almost three decades to benefit Vista Del Mar's Family Service of Santa Monica. Family Service of Santa Monica, a non-profit agency and a division of Vista del Mar Child and Family Services, provides service to children and adults who are struggling with emotional, social and economic issues that prevent them from leading satisfying and productive lives. Family Service provides a broad range of services which include counseling and psycho-educational programs to support families dealing with child abuse, domestic violence, sudden trauma, joblessness and troubled relationships. All funds generated by the Los Angeles Broker Challenge support Family Service, and are the greatest source of private funding in their annual operating budget. Contributions from Los Angeles Broker Challenge have totaled more than $1 million dollars. Together with Vista del Mar, Family Service of Santa Monica has provided more than 100 years of service to our community!

Through other past fundraising events such as the Stroll Down LACRA Lanes Bowling Tournament, LACRA has also supported Chrysalis and The Weingart Center, employment assistance agencies for the homeless, as well as YWCA Santa Monica/Westside Housing & Education Program and The Playa Venice Sunrise Rotary Club Teacher Mini-Grants Program. Following 9/11, LACRA also supported the Manhattan Youth Relief Fund. A portion of the funds generated by some of LACRA's sporting events support these worthwhile charities, and LACRA has raised an additional $120,000 for these causes.
